Base camp is where Aspiro
life begins. When a new student is
admitted into Aspiro, they are treated
with respect similar to a transfer from
one high school to another. Aspiro
does not operate on level systems and
makes no attempt to "break down"
students.
With 10,000-ft. mountains
as a backdrop the Aspiro
Adventure Base Camp is the perfect
setting for students to return home to
after each expedition. While students are in
base camp, they engage in a variety of
activities that may include:
-
eating Dutch oven meals
-
participating in base camp
school
-
completing school assignments
-
re-supplying for next
weeks
expeditions
-
participating in therapy sessions
-
interacting in group sessions
-
participating in
performance reviews
(treatment
team)
-
receiving health and hygiene checks
Out of all the activities
in base camp, students report that their
favorite activities are eating
home-cooked meals and getting mail from
their families.
The Aspiro Adventure Base
Camp is home to deer, elk, moose, golden
eagles and many other wildlife.
